What is pollarding?
Pollarding trees involves usually annual pruning of a tree’s upper branches to ensure that a tree doesn’t grow above a certain height. There are a number of reasons why this might be necessary, including preventing the tree interfering with overhead cables, street lights and wires, or to prevent the tree overwhelming neighbouring properties.
Because tree pollarding promotes fresh growth, there are also aesthetic benefits to the practice, as the new shoots and leaves tend to be more colourful and attractive.
Mint & Swift Tree Surgeons carries out tree felling and pollarding services in and around Borehamwood, St Albans and Barnet. Get in touch now for more information and a free, no obligation quote.
